LOVE OF ONE’S LAND
This,
you stubborn man is the story of a lake in which there were three great fish.
You may have read it elsewhere, but that is only the husk of the story while
this is the spiritual kernel.
Some
fishermen passed by the lake and saw the three fish concealed there. They
hurried to bring a net, but the fish noticed and became aware of their
intention. The intelligent fish resolved to journey; he decided to make the
difficult and unwelcome journey. He said: “I will not seek the advice of the
others, because they will certainly weaken me. Their love of their native place
and of where they live has great power over their souls. Their laziness and
ignorance will affect me.”
For
advice, a good and spiritually alive person is needed, so that he will make you
spiritually alive. Where is that alive person to be found? Traveler, take the
advice of traveler, for the advice of settled person will make you lame in your
foot. Move on from the literal expression, “love of country”. Do not stop at its
apparent meaning. Your real country is Beyond, O soul, it is not on this side.
If you desire your real country, cross to the other side of the stream. Do not
misread this true hadith, “Love of one’s country is a part of Iman (faith).”
“Love
of one’s country” is right, but first, what really is your country?
The
wise fish said, “I will travel. I will keep my heart away from their advice and
counsel.
It is
not a time for advice. Listen, travel! Go by night and let your movement be
hidden, like the night patrol. Set out
from this lake towards the sea; seek the sea and leave this whirlpool.
That
cautious fish swam away and went from its dangerous dwelling to the sea of
light, like a deer which is being pursued by a hunting dog keeps running as
long as there is a single nerve in its body. The hare’s sleep while the dog is
following is serious wrong action.
The
fish left and took its way to the sea. It took the far way to the great expanse
of the sea. It suffered much, and in the end it went. After all, towards safety
and welfare. It threw itself into the deep Sea whose edge no eye can see.
When
the fishermen brought their net to the lake, the half-intelligent fish was
bitterly unhappy at that. He said, “Oh no! I have lost the opportunity. Why did
I not accompany that guide? He went off suddenly. I should have gone after him
quickly.
It is
wrong to regret the past. What is gone will not come back. To remember it is of
no use.
The
second fish said at the time of trouble, when he was separated from the protection
of the intelligent one. “He has gone towards the sea and is free from sorrow.
Such a good comrade I have lost! But I will not think of that. I will look
after myself. At this time I will pretend to be dead. Then I will turn my belly
upwards and my back downwards and move on the water. I will move as weeds do.
Not by swimming as swimmers do. I will become dead. I will entrust myself to
the water. To die before death is to be safe from torment.”
To die
before death is to safe young person! That is what Mustafa told us. He said,
“Die all of you, before death comes. Otherwise, you will die with terrible
sufferings.”
The
fish died in that way, He threw his belly upwards, The water carried him down
below and then up on top of the water. All of the fishermen who were chasing
him were very unhappy at their saying, “Oh no! The best fish is dead.” The fish
was very happy at their saying, “Oh no!” He said to himself, “This trick of
mine has worked. I am saved from the blade.”
One of
the fishermen grabbed him and spat on him and flung him on the ground. The
half-intelligent fish, rolling over and over, went secretly into the water.
The
third fish who was stupid remained where he was, moving back and forward in
agitation, That stupid one kept leaping about, right and left, trying to save
his skin by his own efforts.
They
threw the net, and in the end he was in the net. Stupidity brought him into the
fire. Over the fire, on the surface of the frying pan, he was alone with his
stupidity. He bubbled and crackled from the heat of the flame. His intelligence
said to him, “Did a Warner not come to you? (Qur’an 67:8). He, out of his
torture and suffering, replied, just like the souls of the unbelievers, “They
said, ‘Yes’. ” (Qur’an 67:9)
Then
he said, “if this time I escape from this neck-breaking suffering, I will not
make my home anywhere but in the sea. I will not make a lake my home. I will
find the sea which has no limits and become safe. I will live in safety and
welfare forever.”

Is there "love" in the Qur'an?
Yes. The author's name is Al Wadood, The Loving. How can the Quran not have love in it? The Qur'an is from the OWNER of LOVE - so how can there not be? AL-WADUD
Quran 11:90. "But ask
forgiveness of your Lord, and turn unto Him (in repentance): For my Lord is
indeed full of mercy and loving-kindness."
52:23. They
shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill.
58:22. Thou
wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah
and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their
brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and
strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens
beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). Allah will be well
pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Truly it is
the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity.
85:14. And He is the
Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,
Quran 2:177. It
is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is
righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the
Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love
for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those
who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in
prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have
made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and
throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the
Allah.fearing.
2:195. And
spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands
contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.
2:222 For
Allah loves those who turn to Him
constantly and He loves those who keep
themselves pure and clean.
2:276. Allah will deprive usury
of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: For He loveth not creatures
ungrateful and wicked.
3:14. Fair
in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet:
Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood
and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the
possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the
goals (To return to).
3:31. Say:
"If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah
will love you and forgive you
your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
3:32. Say:
"Obey Allah and His Messenger.: But if they turn back, Allah loveth not those who reject
Faith.
3:57. "As
to those who believe and work righteousness, Allah will pay them (in full)
their reward; but Allah loveth not those who do
wrong."
3:76. Nay.-
Those that keep their plighted faith and act aright,-verily Allah loves those who act
aright.
3:92. By
no means shall ye attain righteousness unless ye give (freely) of that which ye
love; and whatever ye give,
of a truth Allah knoweth it well.
3:103. And
hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and
be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah.s favour on
you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace,
ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved
you from it. Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be
guided.
3:119. Ah!
ye are those who love them, but they love you not,- though ye
believe in the whole of the Book. When they meet you, they say, "We
believe": But when they are alone, they bite off the very tips of their
fingers at you in their rage. Say: "Perish in you rage; Allah knoweth well
all the secrets of the heart."
3:134. Those
who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger,
and pardon (all) men;- for Allah loves those who do good;-
3:146. How
many of the prophets fought (in Allah.s way), and with them (fought) Large
bands of godly men? but they never lost heart if they met with disaster in
Allah.s way, nor did they weaken (in will) nor give in. And Allah Loves those who are firm and
steadfast.
3:148. And
Allah gave them a reward in this world, and the excellent reward of the
Hereafter. For Allah Loveth those who do
good.
3:159. It
is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them Wert thou
severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass
over (Their faults), and ask for ((Allah)'s) forgiveness for them; and consult
them in affairs (of moment). Then, when thou hast Taken a decision put thy
trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their
trust (in Him).
4:36. Serve
Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk,
orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers,
the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands
possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the
vainglorious;-
4:69. All
who obey Allah and the apostle are in the company of those on whom is the Grace
of Allah,- of the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the
witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): Ah! what a beautiful
fellowship!
4:107. Contend
not on behalf of such as betray their own souls; for Allah loveth not one given to
perfidy and crime: 108. They may hide (Their
crimes) from men, but they cannot hide (Them) from Allah, seeing that He is in
their midst when they plot by night, in words that He cannot approve: And Allah
Doth compass round all that they do.
5:13 ........ for
Allah loveth those who are kind.
5:18. (Both)
the Jews and the Christians say: "We are sons of Allah, and his beloved." Say: "Why
then doth He punish you for your sins? Nay, ye are but men,- of the men he hath
created: He forgiveth whom He pleaseth, and He punisheth whom He pleaseth: and
to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is
between: and unto Him is the final goal (of all)"
5:42. (They
are fond of) listening to falsehood, of devouring anything forbidden. If they
do come to thee, either judge between them, or decline to interfere. If thou
decline, they cannot hurt thee in the least. If thou judge, judge in equity
between them. For Allah loveth those who judge in
equity.
5:54. O
ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah
produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him,- lowly with the
believers, mighty against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allah, and
never afraid of the reproaches of such as find fault. That is the grace of
Allah, which He will bestow on whom He pleaseth. And Allah encompasseth all,
and He knoweth all things.
5:64. The
Jews say: "(Allah)'s hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be
they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely
outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the
revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate
rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the
Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish
it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do
mischief.
5:82. Strongest
among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and
nearest among them in love to the believers wilt
thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these
are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are
not arrogant.
5:87. O
ye who believe! make not unlawful the good things which Allah hath made lawful
for you, but commit no excess: for Allah loveth not those given to excess.
5:93. On
those who believe and do deeds of righteousness there is no blame for what they
ate (in the past), when they guard themselves from evil, and believe, and do
deeds of righteousness,- (or) again, guard themselves from evil and believe,-
(or) again, guard themselves from evil and do good. For Allah loveth those who do
good.
6:141. It
is He Who produceth gardens, with trellises and without, and dates, and tilth
with produce of all kinds, and olives and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and
different (in variety): eat of their fruit in their season, but render the dues
that are proper on the day that the harvest is gathered. But waste not by
excess: for Allah loveth not the
wasters.
7:31. O Children of Adam! wear
your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: But
waste not by excess, for Allah loveth not the
wasters.
7:55. Call on your Lord with
humility and in private: for Allah loveth not those who trespass beyond bounds.
7:79. So Salih left them,
saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I
was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel, but ye love not good
counsellors!"
9:4. (But
the treaties are) not dissolved with those Pagans with whom ye have entered
into alliance and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor aided any
one against you. So fulfil your engagements with them to the end of their term:
for Allah loveth the righteous.
9:7. How
can there be a league, before Allah and His Messenger, with the Pagans, except
those with whom ye made a treaty near the sacred Mosque? As long as these stand
true to you, stand ye true to them: for Allah doth love the righteous.
10:108. Never
stand thou forth therein. There is a mosque whose foundation was laid from the
first day on piety; it is more worthy of the standing forth (for prayer)
therein. In it are men who love to be purified; and
Allah loveth those who make
themselves pure.
12:8. They
said: "Truly Joseph and his brother are loved more by our father
than we: But we are a goodly body! really our father is obviously wandering (in
his mind)!
14:3. Those
who love the life of this world
more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek
therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance.
14:37. "O
our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without
cultivation, by Thy Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish
regular Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed
them with fruits: so that they may give thanks.
16:23. Undoubtedly
Allah doth know what they conceal, and what they reveal: verily He loveth not the arrogant.
16:107. This
because they love the life of this world
better than the Hereafter: and Allah will not guide those who reject Faith.
19:96. On
those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, will ((Allah)) Most Gracious
bestow love.
20:39. "'Throw
(the child (Musa)) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river: the
river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an
enemy to Me and an enemy to him': But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me: and
(this) in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye.
22:90. So
We listened to him: and We granted him Yahya: We cured his wife's (Barrenness)
for him. These (three) were ever quick in emulation in good works; they used to
call on Us with love and reverence, and
humble themselves before Us.
22:38. Verily
Allah will defend (from ill) those who believe: verily, Allah loveth not any that is a
traitor to faith, or show ingratitude.
24:19. Those
who love (to see) scandal
published broadcast among the Believers, will have a grievous Penalty in this
life and in the Hereafter: Allah knows, and ye know not.
28:56. It
is true thou wilt not be able to guide every one, whom thou lovest; but Allah guides
those whom He will and He knows best those who receive guidance.
28:76. Qarun
was doubtless, of the people of Moses; but he acted insolently towards them:
such were the treasures We had bestowed on him that their very keys would have
been a burden to a body of strong men, behold, his people said to him:
"Exult not, for Allah loveth not those who exult
(in riches).
28:77. "But
seek, with the (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on thee, the Home of the
Hereafter, nor forget thy portion in this world: but do thou good, as Allah has
been good to thee, and seek not (occasions for) mischief in the land: for Allah
loves not those who do
mischief."
29:25. And
he said: "For you, ye have taken (for worship) idols besides Allah, out of
mutual love and regard between
yourselves in this life; but on the Day of Judgment ye shall disown each other
and curse each other: and your abode will be the Fire, and ye shall have none
to help."
30:21. And
among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves,
that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your
(hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.
30:45. That
He may reward those who believe and work righteous deeds, out of his Bounty.
For He loves not those who reject
Faith.
31:15. "But
if they strive to make thee join in worship with Me things of which thou hast
no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice
(and consideration), and follow the way of those who turn to me (in love): in the end the return
of you all is to Me, and I will tell you the truth (and meaning) of all that ye
did."
31:18. "And
swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the
earth; for Allah loveth not any arrogant
boaster.
38:32. And
he said, "Truly do I love the love of good, with a view to
the glory of my Lord,"- until (the sun) was hidden in the veil (of night):
42:23. That
is (the Bounty) whereof Allah gives Glad Tidings to His Servants who believe
and do righteous deeds. Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except
the love of those near of
kin." And if any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good
in respect thereof: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate
(service).
42:40. The
recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a
person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. for
((Allah)) loveth not those who do
wrong.
49:9. If
two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between
them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other then
fight ye (all) against the one that transgresses until it complies with the
command of Allah; but if it complies then make peace between them with justice
and be fair: for Allah loves those who are fair
(and just).
57:19. And
those who believe in Allah and His apostles- they are the Sincere (lovers of Truth), and the
witnesses (who testify), in the eyes of their Lord: They shall have their
Reward and their Light. But those who reject Allah and deny Our Signs,- they
are the Companions of Hell-Fire.
57:23. In
order that ye may not despair over matters that pass you by, nor exult over
favours bestowed upon you. For Allah loveth not any vainglorious boaster,-
60:1. O
ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),-
offering them (your) love, even though they have
rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out
the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in
Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good
Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with
them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any
of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.
60:7. It
may be that Allah will grant love (and friendship)
between you and those whom ye (now) hold as enemies. For Allah has power (over
all things); And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
60:8. Allah
forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor
drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for
Allah loveth those who are just.
61:4. Truly
Allah loves those who fight in His
Cause in battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure.
61:13. And
another (favour will He bestow,) which ye do love,- help from Allah and a
speedy victory. So give the Glad Tidings to the Believers.
76:8. And
they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent,
the orphan, and the captive,-
76:27. As
to these, they love the fleeting life, and
put away behind them a Day (that will be) hard.
Quran is the Only Book where " THE WRITER" is in Love
with the READER in this ‘imminence’ part, love
lives and breathes.
‘Ar-Rahman’ means ‘the Merciful’. But when we
limit it to that and make it its primary meaning, so much more is just lost. I
was never before aware that it encompasses the meaning of ‘protection, care and
a love that envelopes you’….
‘Tawbah’…, simplistically translated as ‘repentance’,
loses all its beauty in translations. It fails to tell one of the ‘love’
in this concept. it means ‘turning back’ to someone or
something that is always solidly there, waiting for you. So beautiful to God is
the soul that comes back to Him, that He swears an oath on it…’and by the
self-reproaching soul’.
Love is
there all over the Quran…in its language…as if its language has been altered in
the most subtle of ways to deliberately put it there. Another example…the verse
‘I respond to the call of the one who calls, when he calls’ is a linguistic
gem…in the way Allah tweaks its language to pour love
into it. If only we understood Arabic.
The story of Musa is full of love; the story of Youssuf is also full of beautiful emotions and love... when Allah talks to his beloved prophet Mohammed PBUH it is the true love.... All quran's words are the mercy and love to all human beings.
In the very first Verse Quran starts with the very first Ayah in the Surah Fatiha. This Bismillah is mentioned 114 times in the Quran.
BismiLLAHir Rahmaanir Raheem
(In the name of ALLAH the most gracious the most merciful)
HADITH:
Abu Hurairah (May ALLAH be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of ALLAH (Peace be upon him) said, "ALLAH has divided Mercy into one hundred parts; and HE retained with HIM ninety-nine parts, and sent down to earth one part. Through this one part creatures deal with one another with compassion, so much so that an animal lifts its hoof over its young lest it should hurt it".
- [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Quran 2:165 Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah): They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the penalty. (2:165) One of the names of Allah is al wadood.
Allah in His infinite mercy has created everything for us, both
in this world and in the next . Who else then, deserves to be loved and worshiped more
than Allah? All that we - and the whole of creation, for that matter - require
and need is with Him. He gives His servants more than they need, even before
they ask him. He is pleased with even a little right action and increases its
rewards. He forgives untold wrong actions and wipes them out. All this is acts
of immeasurable love, which we humans normally don't posses. Eg : He forgives when
we ask for forgiveness, however big the sin he would have committed. How many of us find it difficult
to forgive, when someone breaks our trust?
The word(s) "love" appears 93 time(s) in 83 verse(s) in Quran in Abdullah Yusuf Ali translation.//
If you read Surah Nuh. Prophet Nuh (AS) tried to guide his
nation for around 950 years. This much patience only a Prophet can have when
the nation is continuously ridiculing and insulting the Prophet. It was Prophet
Nuh (AS)'s patience that he tried to guide them for so much long number of
years. If its you and me giving Dawah to a rude person and the person insults
us may be we will do patience for may be maximum a year which is impractical
for us but you see ALLAH's love for the nation that Nuh (AS) was continuously assigned to his
nation. After that finally in Surah Nuh Allah told what Nuh (AS) said :
http://neurotherapy-of-christian-brain.blogspot.ae/2012/05/love-of-ones-land.html
Surah Nuh
71:21. Noah said: "O my Lord! They have disobeyed me, but
they follow (men) whose wealth and children give them no increase but only
Loss.
22. "And they have devised a tremendous Plot.
23. "And they have said (to each other), 'Abandon not your
gods: Abandon neither Wadd nor Suwa', neither Yaguth nor Ya'uq, nor Nasr';-
24. "They have already misled many; and grant Thou no
increase to the wrong- doers but in straying (from their mark)."
25. Because of their sins they were drowned (in the flood), and
were made to enter the Fire (of Punishment): and they found- in lieu of Allah.
none to help them.
26. And Noah, said: "O my Lord! Leave not of the
Unbelievers, a single one on earth!
27. "For, if Thou dost leave (any of) them, they will but
mislead Thy devotees, and they will breed none but wicked ungrateful ones.
28. "O my Lord! Forgive me, my parents, all who enter my
house in Faith, and (all) believing men and believing women: and to the
wrong-doers grant Thou no increase but in perdition!"
Note : Christians and Jews make allegations that God the father
is cruel. The fact is Allah is completely mercy and forgiveness. It was Nuh
(AS) whose patience lasted for 950 years and he asked Allah to destroy his
nation and dont leave a single man. After which his nation was punished with
the Great flood. So we see that Jews and
Christians allegations on Allah is refuted by Allah himself in the Quran !!!
