[In the name of Allah , The Most Gracious , The Most merciful ]

One very important question asked by non-muslims is that "If Islam is true and the Noble Qur'an is a revelation from God then what about Bible , The Vedas and Other books , what are they ?"

According to Islam the Noble Qur'an is not the only revelation sent to mankind but actually it is the last and final message to mankind from their Creator. If Islam actually started in the 6th century then Islam is not the true religion. Islam was there since man was created on earth but Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] was last and final messenger from God to humankind and many were Prophets before him who were given different scriptures with laws suited for that age but the basic message of Tawheed  (Oneness of God) never changed.

God says in the Noble Qur'an that there was a warner (Prophet) for every age who was given a Revelation (Book) :

And We have already sent messengers before you (O Muhammad) and assigned to them wives and descendants. And it was not for a messenger to come with a sign except by permission of Allah . For every term is a Book (revealed).

  -Surah Ra'd (13:38)

By name only four Books are mentioned in the Noble Qur'an , they are :

1.     Taurat (Torah) - The book given to Prophet Moses (pbuh)

2.     Injeel (Gospel) - The book given to Prophet Jesus (pbuh)

3.     Zaboor (Psalms) - The book given to Prophet David (pbuh)

4.     Furqaan or Qur'an - The last and final revelation given by God to mankind through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Allah also tells about revelations given to other Prophets but the books are not named in the Qur'an :

Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

 - Surah Baqarah (2:136)

§  Bible and Vedas

Bible is a mixture of some parts of Torah , Zaboor and Injeel with human interpolations. Bible is not pure word of God given to the Prophets , It got corrupted over time. No Muslim believes that the whole Bible is from God , We believe that parts of it are from God but the book got corrupted. 

Since , revelations were given in every age we can consider that may be Vedas were revelation of God for some period in history but we cannot say for sure because they are not mentioned by name in the Noble Qur'an. Vedas too got interpolated overtime and are not available in pure form.

One of the most important proof for corruption of Bible and Vedas are the scientific errors present in both books for example things like Sun revolves round earth.

[Note : The Noble Qur'an has not a single scientific error in it which is a miracle because its a 1400 year old book , Moreover The Glorious Qur'an has in it scientific information which has been proved recently...This is one of the proof of Islam being True]

Allah the Almighty issues a warning to those who edit the Books of God and write books saying "This is from God" :

So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah ," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.

  -Surah Baqarah (2:79)

§  Al-Qur'an

Al-Qur'an is the Last Message from God to mankind. All the earlier scriptures were sent for their specific time period and for specific people while the Noble Qur'an is the only message given to mankind as a whole and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was sent for all humankind. 

The Noble Qur'an was sent for mankind as Allah says in the Qur'an :

[This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy

  -Surah Ibrahim (14:1)

Here is a Message for mankind: Let them take warning therefrom, and let them know that He is (no other than) One Allah: let men of understanding take heed.

   -Surah Ibrahim (14:52)

The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankindand clear proofs of guidance and criterion...

  -Surah Baqarah (2:185)

§  Even if Vedas were revelation of God ?

Even if the Vedas and the other scriptures were the revelations from God, they were only meant for people of that time and were to be followed only for that particular period of time. Today all human beings through out the world including India should only follow the last and final Revelation of God, i.e. the Qur’an. Moreover since all the previous revelations were not meant to be followed for eternity, Almighty God did not preserve them in their original form. There is not a single religious scripture of any of the major religions which claims to be the word of God and has maintained its pure original text and is free from alteration, adulteration and interpolation. Since the Glorious Qur’an is to be followed for eternity, Allah  has taken upon Himself to maintain its original purity and guard it from corruption.

Allah The-Exalted says in The Noble Qur'an :

Indeed, it is We* who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian (from corruption).

   -Surah Hijr (15:9)

Its a request to the reader to read The Noble Qur'an and follow it because it is the Last Revelation to mankind.

[* We : The Royal Plural used by Allah for himself in the Qur'an]
